The opening ceremony for the class of 2022 of the College of Business of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics was held. More than 1200 students from all over the country and the world attended the class of 2022 at the College of Business to open a new chapter in their lives.
The party leaders of the College of Business, Xue Liping, Wei Hang, Liu Zhiyang, Liu Bingyong, Dong Jing, Assistant Dean Yu Dianfan, Ding Haoyuan, Yang Jianping, teacher representative Wang Wenbin, alumni representative from the EMBA Class 2009 Hu Huan, the representatives of the new students, and the heads of different departments of the program attended the offline opening ceremony. The opening ceremony was hosted by Xue Liping, Chair of COB Council.
The opening ceremony kicked off with the strong national anthem.
Professor Wei Hang, COB Associate Executive Dean opened the session with a speech. With two key words of “Great changes” and “New opportunities”, he explained the challenges and existing opportunities experienced by the development over times, and expected the freshmen to treat and think seriously about and surpass the unseen with foresight.In addition, he expected them to take appropriate preparations to actively improve their learning skills, research skills, practice motivation, innovation ability and cognitive ability in the limited years of campus life, and strive to yield new and greater achievements in “Great changes” and “New opportunities”.
Professor Wang Wenbin, head of the Operations Management Department of the College of Business and a representative of the faculty said that he hoped freshmen would focus on their own experience and growth during their study to have the courage to study and explore AI and other cutting-edge technology developing their own sense of innovation, and share his understanding of setbacks. He told the freshmen to make efforts to face the challenges, which will eventually bring growth and long-term hope.
The representatives of the students from the undergraduate, graduate, and doctorate studies spoke in turn, sharing their feelings of getting into Shanghai University of Finance and Economics from the beginning, and expressing the good expectation and belonging the future study and life.
Alumni representative, member of the Party Committee and Deputy General Manager of Shanghai Waigaoqiao Group Co., Ltd., Chairman of Shanghai Free Trade Zone International Cultural Investment and Development Co. Ltd., Vice Chairman of the national base for foreign cultural trade (Shanghai), Hu Huanzhong, a 2009 EMBA alumnus shared his experience of studying at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics based on his career development experience. He said that Shanghai University of Finance and Economics is an important platform for his career pathfrom which he achieved the courage to make changes and the opportunity to make choices, and gradually achieve today's outcome. At the same time, he got to know a lot of like-minded students during studies and got access to valuable wealth in life. He told the students to cherish time, cherish friendship, cherish the platform of the university, keep in mind their initial intentions when getting into the university, and demonstrate the strength of youth.
At the end of the opening ceremony, a “Book awarding ceremony” was also held. Alumnus Hu Huanzhong, COB Associate Executive Dean Wei Hang and Professor Wang Wenbin awarded books to the representatives of the freshmen alltogether. They hoped that new students read more books, read good books and love reading to achieve a better future.
